Driving Key Discussions:

  • Derrick MacLeod, Senior Project Manager at BlueFloat Energy | Nadara Partnership, provided updates during “Rapid Fire Updates: The latest in floating offshore wind projects”, showcasing our portfolio’s expansion to over 3GW+, with major progress on Stromar and Bellrock Offshore Wind Projects. Derrick emphasized our ongoing commitment to local investment and supply chain growth.

He commented on initiatives like the Scottish Renewables’ awareness days, which promote dialogue and cooperation between stakeholders.

Government Support:

  • Scottish First Minister John Swinney MSP opened the conference, calling floating offshore wind an “era-defining opportunity” for Scotland’s future. During his visit to the Business Lounge sponsored by the BlueFloat Energy | Nadara Partnership, he spoke with Susie Lind and Richard Britton about the opportunities we’re creating for Scottish supply chains and communities.
  • Bill Esterson, MP, Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee, reinforced the Government’s commitment to achieving cost reductions for floating wind, aiming for the same success seen in fixed-bottom wind.
  • Michael Shanks, Energy Minister at Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, highlighted the importance of accelerating floating offshore wind growth, with Aberdeen set to become a key hub for the industry as GB Energy establishes its headquarters there.

As we continue to advance our projects and engage with stakeholders, we’re focused on actionable steps and partnerships that will translate Scotland’s renewable energy potential into tangible progress.
