Oliver joined BlueFloat Energy from SSE Renewables in Scotland, where he developed engineering and logistics strategies for the next generation of offshore wind farms, like the Seagreen 1A project, utilising 15MW+ sized turbines. A trained Naval Architect, he has worked in the offshore industry for eighteen years, ten years of which have been specifically in offshore wind. His varied career as an engineer and marine consultant has seen him work with and alongside many of the wind sector’s EPCI contractors, developers, marine consultancies, vessel designers, logistics providers and insurers.
Oliver has led engineering teams and is himself well-versed in the engineering, logistics and practical considerations involved in commercial-scale fixed and floating offshore wind, having been involved in loadout, transport and installation of a variety of onshore and offshore infrastructure including jackets, monopiles, floating foundations, substations, platforms, subsea equipment, nuclear reactors, refineries and port infrastructure.
In addition to his engineering experience, Oliver has also accrued considerable experience in providing marine warranty and risk management advice across the offshore wind package disciplines and to offshore suppliers, marine insurers and corporations who are building and transporting items at sea. This saw him involved in many facets of the first generation of European offshore wind projects including Horns Rev III, Beatrice, Aberdeen Bay, Galloper, Kentish Flats Extension and Meygen, amongst other renewables projects.
