Our CEO, Carlos Martin Rivals, has just wrapped up an eventful week in Australia, marked by several key events and meetings that highlight our ongoing commitment to the region.

  • At the Gippsland New Energy Conference (GNEC24):
Carlos participated in the conference held in Gippsland, Victoria — home to our Gippsland Dawn Offshore Wind Project (https://lnkd.in/gFZxCA44). He delivered a talk on the panel “Care, Share, Be Fair: How to Co-Exist Offshore,” sharing insights on how we can apply lessons from overseas to Gippsland’s nascent offshore wind industry. Additionally, BlueFloat Energy hosted the “Taste of Gippsland” drinks event, where local produce, food, and drinks took center stage. Carlos offered a toast, and everyone enjoyed signature cocktails like the “BlueFloat Lagoon” and “Dream Dawn”. He also spoke passionately about the transition to renewables as the next Industrial Revolution, emphasizing the importance of creating lasting jobs and opportunities while achieving emissions reduction targets.
  • Key Meetings with Government Officials:
Throughout the week, Carlos met with several key government ministers, including State Minister for Energy & Resources Lily D’Ambrosio MP and Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen MP. These discussions are pivotal in reinforcing our commitment to supporting Australia’s energy transition and ensuring the success of our projects in the region.
  • Dinner with Traditional Owners:
On Monday night, Carlos was honored to attend a dinner with the Traditional Owners Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) (the Registered Aboriginal Party that represents the Gunaikurnai people, the Traditional Owners of the Country). The evening was an opportunity to hear stories from Aboriginal elders and discuss how we can work together to develop new energy in Gippsland. The dinner also marked the launch of GLaWAC’s Pathways to Partnership plan — a significant step towards building collaborative relationships in the region.

We are excited about the future of renewable energy in Gippsland and look forward to continuing our work in this region!
