The conversation on ports continues at BlueFloat Energy!

As offshore wind grows, so does the strategic role of ports in supporting the industry’s entire value chain. Ferdinando Samonà, Industrialization Senior Manager for Italy at BlueFloat Energy, took the stage last week at Offshore Wind Revolution – Building the Industry and Getting the Ports Ready conference in Palermo, where he shared insights on Italian ports’ potential to foster new economic opportunities and job creation. Ferdinando also addressed the associated key logistical and regulatory challenges.

In his presentation, “The Port Industry and Italian Logistics Towards a New Development Model,” Ferdinando highlighted that early collaboration between port authorities, the supply chain, and policymakers is essential for enabling the offshore wind sector’s long-term growth. By establishing clear guidelines and timelines for port funding, government support can be aligned with industry needs, ensuring that ports have the infrastructure and logistical systems in place to handle the unique demands of floating offshore wind.

At BlueFloat Energy, we believe that ports and offshore wind must evolve in tandem to support a sustainable energy transition and unlock the full economic potential of this sector.
